Too Much

Heartless ‘cause I feel too much,

see too much, break too much.

‘Cause I question intention

and soul too much;

don’t trust word so much.

Maybe ‘cause I pull back with touch.

Spineless cause I cover my mouth so much,

don’t speak up, cower too much.

‘Cause I forget my sanity

and beliefs too much;

roll through the who and what-ifs so much.

Or maybe it’s ‘cause of that fear to trust.

Pointless ‘cause you’ve already said too much,

felt too much, had enough.

‘Cause I’m just problematic

and jaded too much;

rhetorically shredded and battered so much.

Perhaps it’s ‘cause I’ve always been never enough.

Fearful ‘cause I’ve been here too much,

déja vu hoped and failed so much.

‘Cause you forget I’m a dreamer

hit by reality too much;

by the takers and breakers and liars so much.

That rainbow just feels too manufactured and rust.
