Reminiscing

You smell like a memory
-one I can’t quite place.
Though I find myself yearning
for the past that’s on your face.
Is it written in my childhood,
or memories on the wall?
Maybe when I left my home,
wandering the halls?
Your scent is simply captivating,
it leaves a familiar taste.
Upon my tongue and sullen heart,
is nostalgia laid to waste.
It's as if I almost knew you,
Somewhere far away.
Familiar stranger standing here,
your foreign eyes of pain.
Not quite navigated,
yet, evaporates in haste.
I feel something I had,
fading in this space.
