I keep trying to tell her,
that she's enough.
She's motherly, and robust,
and refreshing like a breeze.
But, they always whisper back,
"Liar. Fraud. Imposter.
You didn't try enough.
You didn't give enough.
You didn't love enough."
I keep telling her
that she is a motherfucking fortress,
a masterpiece;
a force to be reckoned with.
They scream back, mockingly,
"You are the destruction!
You are the problem!
Inadequate!
Because, what wife
leaves on their wedding night?
What mother
lets her children drown?
What friend
turns and runs away?
Liar, fraud, imposter!
Imperfect daughter!
Soul manipulator!"
I keep trying to tell her...
They never remember your strengths,
but they'll take a polaroid of your mistakes,
And put it in a fucking frame.
